A teenage girl was killed in a single vehicle crash early Friday morning on Pueblo's South Side. Officers arrived at the corner of Pueblo Boulevard and Northern Avenue around 2:30 a.m. and found a maroon Cadillac that had crashed into a power pole on the southwest corner of the intersection after failing to negotiate a turn from Northern onto Pueblo Boulevard. Bernadette Trujillo, 16, of Pueblo was discovered dead in the vehicle from the injuries she sustained, according to police. Witnesses reported hearing screams and observed three people running from the scene of the wreck, police said. Reports were given of a young, tall and thin Hispanic male, a heavy-set male and a female wearing a white shirt and black shorts running away from the accident. As of Friday, police could not determine if Trujillo was driving. Police said speed and alcohol may be factors in the wreck. Traffic investigators are still attempting to identify the other occupants of the Cadillac.
